Launched in early 2009 the Power Miners range of Lego sets sees the earth facing a new threat, and it doesn’t come from space, the threat lies deep in the centre of the earth itself! Deep below the earth’s surface five different types of rock monsters are burrowing towards the core to feed on Power Crystals.
A famous scientist known as ‘Brains’ is not only desperate to save the world from the rock monsters, he also has a deep fascination about their origins and habitat, he would love to be able to capture one alive and bring them to the earth's surface where he could study them in great detail. Brains is aided in his mission by his colleagues who include Rex - a leading engineer who designs the Power Miners vehicles, Doc - a natural leader who loves an adventure & isn’t afraid of danger and Duke - an old pro of the mining game, who has mined gold & diamonds around the world.
Together the miners must work together to battle the different monsters -
Firerox - loves to play tricks on the miners including pinching their equipment and sabotaging their vehicles.
Boulderax - he may not be the quickest or smartest of the monsters but Boulderax is always up for a fight!
Glaciator - one of the most dangerous monsters, even the other monsters are scared of him and he uses this to his advantage by getting them to do the dirty work while he eats the crystals.
Sulfurix - clever and sneaky, Sulfurix is able to melt even the toughest rocks and uses his stealth to get to the crystals undetected by the miners.
Meltrox - this is one bad tempered monster! Meltrox will think nothing of starting a fight even if it means missing out on nearby crystals!
